Name change and Visual Studio Code update

Hello everybody!

I’m back to Evangelism after taking a break from work for a couple of months due to the birth of my child.

If you are annoyed by posts of baby pictures: I am sorry. I will try to keep it to a minimum!

First thing I want to note is, my URL has changed! Which, if you’re reading this, you might have already noticed…

I am no longer Tobiah Marks. My name is now Tobiah Zarlez!

As such:

  • This website is now TobiahZ.com!
  • My twitter is now @TobiahZarlez
  • Many of my other accounts have changed, check out the social bar located on the left (or top) of the page.

Please update your bookmarks accordingly. Also, let me know if you find any stray links or 404’s. In theory though, everything should forward nicely!

Visual Studio Code Cross Platform Editor

Secondly, I want to let you all know that I have updated my Visual Studio Code Ultimate Guide with some new information. The integration with Unity is now even better!

If you’re interesting in checking out (or taking a second look) at Visual Studio Code, take a look: http://www.tobiahz.com/2015/05/visual-studio-code/

I look forward to getting back into posting onto this blog again. Talk to you all soon!

They are on why the file size of your mobile app/game matters, and lists some things you could do to help reduce your file size.

GDC Vault Highlight: The Universe: How To Break The Game

Part eight in my series of highlighting free talks from Game Developers Conference 2015!

What is the GDC Vault?

The GDC Vault is a collection of (most of the) talks at various GDC events. Talks from last March’s GDC 2015 are online and you can watch them when ever you want! If you have an all access, speaker or media badge you get access to the complete vault. Otherwise, there is an extra charge. However, each year they release certain talks for free. I wanted to highlight some of my favorite talks from this year that are available for everybody to watch for free.

oDesk is now Upwork

One of my favorite tools for hiring contractors, oDesk, has rebranded itself. From now on they’ll be called “Upwork”

From their website:

Dear oDeskers,

Together we’ve redefined how people work. What you do every day on oDesk used to be called “the future of work,” but it’s rapidly becoming the norm. We know 90% of US businesses hire independent professionals and they are ready to find more talent online. Continue reading oDesk is now Upwork
